We attended this years Denver X-ray Conference in Big Sky, Montana from 31 July to 4 August.
This year we contributed with the following talks:
- Multimodal Imaging of Biological Samples: Correlation of μXRF with MALDI-MSI and with LA-ICP-MS (A.Turyanskaya et al.)
- Zinc (Zn) and Lead (Pb) Accumulation in the Tidemark of Articular Cartilage with High-resolution micro-XRF (M. Rauwolf et al.)
F-58 Novel Clustering Approach for the Segmentation of Elemental Distributions in Human Bone
- F-69 Implementation of a Confocal SR-microXRF System for Bone Analysis at the X-ray Fluorescence Beam Line at Elettra
- F-70 Investigation of the Local Manganese Distribution in Bone in Female and Male Osteoporosis Compared to Healthy Controls
The Seminar Activation Analysis and Gamma Spectroscopy (SAAGAS 26), took place on 19-22 February in TU Wien, Vienna, Austria. Our group from Atominstitut contributed to the Seminar 2 oral presentations, as well as 5 posters – and three of the posters were devoted to biological samples:
- Total X-ray reflection spectrometry of black tea and herbal infusions
- μXRF spectrometer of Atominstitut in bio-imaging application
- Confocal μXRF spectrometer for low to high Z element analysis
We’re very delighted to share, that the talk of Mirjam Rauwolf – “Synchrotron radiation micro XRF analysis of zinc in osteosarcoma tissue” received an award!
After the beamtime, we will be attending 66th Yearly Meeting of the Austrian Physical Society (OEPG2016).
You can meet us at our posters during the poster session on Tuesday 27th of September 17:15 – 19:00 (Boltzmanngasse 5, 3rd floor, in front of Josef-Stefan lecture hall). We will present the following three posters:
PT24: Confocal SR-µXRF measurements of increased Zinc accumulation in mineralized osteosarcoma
PT25: Confocal µXRF spectrometer for analysis of 3-dimensional spatial distribution of low to high Z elements
PT26: Total X-ray reflection fluorescence spectrometry analysis of trace elements in tea and herbal infusions
We might be running a little bit late though, as we will be attending the Young-Minds-Session (Tuesday 27th of September from 16:15, Boltzmanngasse 5, 3rd floor, Christian-Doppler lecture hall). A session created for students and as well as laypersons prepared by the ÖPG Young Minds (the representation for students, PhDs and Post-Docs of the Austrian Physical Society). Lectures will be held in German and are free of charge for school classes.
More information about the Young-Minds-Session can be found in the flyer and on the poster below:
Thanks to everyone who visited our posters in Chicago!
If you did not have a chance to see our work yet, we will be at the X-ray Microscopy Conference in Oxford – 15th to 19th August 2016.
We will present three posters on Monday 15th from 17:00 to 19:00:
Zinc Distribution In Human Bone: SR-Micro X-Ray Fluorescence Imaging of Osteoporotic Samples (S1-P3-05)
Exploitation of μXRF Spectrometer for Bio-imaging (S1-P3-06)
High resolution imaging of metal localization in cancer cells at the B16 beamline at Diamond.
We will be at the Denver X-ray Conference, which will take place in Chicago from 1-5 of August 2016.
During the XRF Poster Session on Tuesday evening (5:00 pm – 7:00 pm in the Michigan Room), we are presenting four posters :
We hope to see you in Chicago!
Visit our talks at this years European Conference on X-Ray Spectrometry (EXRS) in Gothenburg.
On Monday, 20th of June from 14:30 to 14:45 M. Rauwolf will present our work about the “Zinc accumulation in mineralized osteosarcoma tissue determined with confocal SR-μXRF“
and on Tuesday, 21st of June from 13:45 to 14:00 A. Turyanskaya will talk about the “Manganese distribution in antler and human bone by SR-μXRF analysis“.
And don’t forget to have a look at our posters (Poster session 2, Tuesday, 21st of June from 17:15 to 19:00):
Post 85: “SR-μXRF analysis of the zinc distribution in healing osteoporotic fractures”
Post 87: “Magnesium-based biodegradable orthopedic implants by μXRF”
We presented two posters at the 43rd Annual European Calcified Tissue Society Congress (ECTS Conference) in Rome (14-17 May 2016):
- P114 Increased Zinc accumulation in mineralized osteosarcoma tissue
- P312 Manganese distribution in bone tissue by SR-µXRF
And we are very proud to announce that we won the young investigator poster prize with “Manganese distribution in bone tissue by SR-µXRF”.
We are presenting parts of our research tomorrow at the International Conference on Progress in Bone and Mineral Research 2015 and the Annual Autumn Conference of the Austrian Society for Bone and Mineral Research (AuSBMR).
